Designer Spotlight: Jessica Conner

We love seeing our products featured in designers work that we are now featuring them! Introducing the first of many, our new blog series, Designer Spotlight’s! Each month we will feature their work using our products from our family of businesses! First up is Jessica Conner! Check out her Q&A below.

I graduated with a degree in Interior Design from Mississippi State in 2008. From there, I started working in Kitchen and Bath Design and then went on to be the in-house designer for a couple of construction companies in Birmingham. I started my design firm in 2016 specializing in Interior Architecture and the finishes/fixtures of new construction/remodeling interior design. I assist my clients in the selections of all fixtures and finishes for their project as well as provide any and all necessary drawings/elevations/3D renderings of the project for construction.

Q: List one word to describe your style.

A. Functional

Q. What design trend(s) are you excited about for 2019?

A. I love the durability of quartz countertops and the colors just keep getting better so I can’t wait to see new options in 2019!

Q. What design trend(s) do you wish would die?

A. White and Gray everything… It’s too sterile.

Q. What are your favorite color combos?

A. Navy & White Marble – Antique Brass & Black – White & White

Q. What inspires you the most when designing?

A. My Client – If it doesn’t meet their needs, then it’s irrelevant.

Q. What project are you most proud of?

A. Total cliche but I’m proud of all of my projects. If at the end of the day the client is happy, I’m proud.

Q. Did you always want to be a designer? What did you want to be when you were a child?

A. Well yes and no. I wanted to be an architect for as long as I can remember. I did a year of Architecture at Mississippi State but changed majors to Interior Design.

Q. If you could design a room for anyone who and what would it be?

A. A master bathroom for myself! My current bathroom is 4’x8′ and I share it with my husband… We literally cannot stand in it at the same time. And after designing dream spaces for all your clients, you can’t help but daydream of your own future space.

Q. What is your favorite thing about CR Home?

A. The slab yard of beautiful materials that fit a wide range of budgets. And my local team – they always go above and beyond and always pay attention to the details.

Q. Tell us a little bit about the project photos you are attaching: What CR Home products are featured?

A. #112Ridge was a new construction project I completed with Saunders Bradford Building for a couple in Homewood, AL. The kitchen has crisp white cabinets, custom open shelving, and bright brass fixtures. It also features 3cm Alba Vera marble countertops. We laminated the edge on the island top to give it the appearance of a 5cm slab. Also, we used 6×12 Alba Vera marble tiles for a full height splash to the ceiling. One of the best features is the range hood that is fully clad in the same 6×12 Alba Vera marble. Viking appliances were used and, actually, Viking chose this kitchen and myself as Kitchen Designer of the Year for 2018!

Q. What are you most excited for the future of the architecture and design industry?

A. The industry changes so fast, that it’s hard to know where it’s going but it seems to always evolve for the better. Smart Tech, smart materials, smart fabrics – all of them helping to make everyone’s crazy and stressful lives a little easier.
